Life Skills Training for people with brain injuries
SJCI offers a variety of community-based services to people who have sustained traumatic brain injuries. Life Skills Training services are available to both people with brain injuries and their family members.
The scope of services offered is:
- Housing and household management services, i.e. locating affordable housing, cleaning and use of appliances, skills training
- Nutrition planning and comparative shopping assistance
- Personal care, including hygiene and grooming skills training
- Maintenance of physical, medical, and emotional health issues
- Basic safety training including first aid and fire safety
- Time management skills training
- How to access and utilize transportation in the community
- Social and recreatoinal skills training
- Cognitive skills training
- Communication skills and use oof asstive devices
- Employment and education assistance and training
- Other services deemed important by the consumer needed to live independently in the community
